It’s bitter cold in Minneapolis. January 22nd and -9 as of now.

I find this time of year to be pretty tough most years. This year has been a bit better due to the trip to Costa Rica, but it’s tough to get up and out of bed when it’s extremely cold and the ride into work doesn’t even warm up your vehicle. I’m also very busy at work, with impending launches to get in motion prior to next month.

So it’s the dog days, they come back every year. Most Minnesotans cabin fever up for the next few months, which frankly isn’t a bad idea if you like to stay warm. Last year was a complete anomaly, we were actually pretty spoiled. This year has been more typical, but without a lot of snow. I’d been hoping to get out and snowshoe again this year as last year was a shut out, but no dice. Maybe that changes in the next few weeks.

I’m not really sure why, but at this junction of the year it seems like I don’t accomplish a lot other than work related activities. It seems like I sleep more and slow down on extracurriculars such as reading and exercise. I’ll be on the lookout for something to do outside this weekend in order to keep the dog days from biting. :-)

If you’re in the midwest and feeling cold, maybe even irritable, keep your head up! It gets better, nearly every day moving forward.
