This has been an atypical vacation in terms of writing. Many things happened that were noteworthy, but it didn’t all get put on paper. We spent NYE at a very fun bar in Hopkins, a local joint where most of the proprietors from other bars and restaurants come to celebrate. The DJ at first was [...]

Harper Lee wrote a fantastic book back in 1960. Apparently she still makes $9000 per day from it today.I’ve read it before, when I was in junior high school, but had since forgotten most of the plot. The fact that it was in the deep south and was about an older time was about all [...]
It is well past time for me to write a little about our trip. We are currently on day five, in a very nice town called Hopkins. There are roughly 1,000 people living here and most everyone seems very happy and friendly.
Belize is a cultural melting pot unlike any I’ve seen. There are many cultures [...]
Well, it snuck up on us. We just had Christmas here in Bloomington. My brother in law Nathan is staying with us here in Bloomington through the rest of the month, and has been the last three, so we all stayed in and enjoyed some holiday spirit.
But tonight we are leaving for vacation, down to [...]
It took us quite a bit of time to decide, but we’ll be headed down to Belize in December for about ten days.
We had discussed at great length going to Peru, but ultimately decided against it due to prices of flights going up, the timeliness of travel (getting there in the middle of the night [...]
I haven’t written a lot lately, and part of that is due to the idea of writing more in depth and “professional” posts. Of course, that’s antithetical in nature to why this site was built and what it’s supposed to be for. This is not a professional site and it’s not supposed to be, so [...]
Today is our last full day of the trip. It started by getting up at 6am and doing some quick breakfast before hopping on a bus to take a river cruise. It’s about 45 minutes away from our hotel, and we were excited to try one last time to see some wildlife.
It didn’t disappoint. [...]
Yesterday we dropped off the Montero Sport at Vamos Car Rental, but before hand stopped off in a small town just NE of the highway called Qauantil. We picked up a few hand crafted artisan pottery pieces for family and one for ourselves and then ate lunch. We arrived at Playa Ocotal at roughly 3pm [...]
After a very nice long day of relaxation in Montezuma, it was time to get on the road. And the road was not easy. We were actually pretty concerned about getting to Samara from Montezuma as the roads are not complete and during the rainy seasons it’s a pretty difficult endeavor. We were told that [...]
Finally got some sun. Mostly laying around and reading today. Infinite Jest is going to take me forever to finish. Now getting ready for dinner and then heading off to Samara in the morning.
